Litigation Practice

A structured 12-month pathway to Associate Partner — for litigation lawyers ready to lead.

This programme is designed for senior litigation lawyers who have demonstrated the depth and drive to operate at partner level. It is not a training course. It is a structured transition — a curated 12-month journey that combines advanced practice exposure, direct partner mentorship, and client-facing responsibility, culminating in assessment for elevation to Associate Partner at Singhania & Partners LLP.

Who This Programme Is For

Lawyers who have spent eight or more years in litigation practice, including at least three years at Senior Associate or Principal Associate level with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 law firm, and who are ready to make the transition from executing matters to owning them.

12-Month Programme Structure

MODULE 1 | MONTHS 1–3

Commercial Litigation — NCLT & Commercial Courts

Participants develop expertise in commercial dispute resolution across the National Company Law Tribunal and the Commercial Courts. Focus areas include shareholder disputes, insolvency-related litigation, commercial contract claims, enforcement of awards, and interlocutory applications strategy.

MODULE 2 | MONTHS 4–6

Arbitration — Tribunal Proceedings, High Court and Supreme Court Challenges

A practice-focused module covering domestic and international arbitration before ad hoc and institutional tribunals, conduct of arbitral proceedings, and the full lifecycle of High Court and Supreme Court interventions — from Section 9 interim applications through Section 34 and Section 37 challenge proceedings.

MODULE 3 | MONTHS 7–9

Tribunal & Employment Litigation

Participants will develop working familiarity with industrial dispute mechanisms, wrongful termination proceedings, and regulatory tribunal advocacy, calibrated to the firm’s current practice volume in this space.

MODULE 4 | MONTHS 10–12

Litigation Leadership & Practice Building

Designed to transition senior associates and principal associates toward partner-level responsibility. Participants will engage directly with practice-area mentors, develop client relationships, and build the judgment required to run matters

independently. Mentorship is structured around supervised project work — not classroom instruction.

Regulatory Compliance

12-Month Programme Structure

MODULE 1 | MONTHS 1–3

Litigation Fundamentals & Courtroom Orientation

Lay the groundwork for a litigation practice with an immersive introduction to civil procedure, court hierarchies, filing protocols, and courtroom dynamics. Fellows will accompany senior lawyers to hearings and complete guided drafting exercises.

MODULE 2 | MONTHS 4–6

Drafting & Procedural Mastery

Develop precision in legal drafting — plaints, written statements, applications, and appeals. Fellows will gain command over procedural rules under the Civil Procedure Code, Commercial Courts Act, and the Arbitration and Conciliation Act.

MODULE 3 | MONTHS 7–9

Research, Oral Advocacy & Client Communication

Master the craft of persuasive legal research and oral presentation. This module focuses on structuring legal arguments, effective brief writing, preparing for court appearances, and communicating with clients under supervision.

MODULE 4 | MONTHS 10–12

Advanced Advocacy & Trial Skills

Deepen practical skills in cross-examination, trial strategy, and evidence management. Fellows will work on live matters with close partner supervision and conclude the programme with an assessed moot exercise before a panel of senior advocates.
